2023-2024: Week 14 Player Reports
Game 1: Team Yellow
vs. Team Green
-In perhaps the most inconsequential game in HatchetBall history, Team Yellow secured a 1-13 record, narrowly escaping infamy as the first winless team. In order to worse than them, you’ll really have to earn it. There were some high hopes for both of these squads, but it’s a putrid reminder that things don’t always go according to plan and two teams will always end up on the outside looking in come playoff time.
Game 2: Team Purple
vs. Team Silver
-Purple continues their solid play with their whole roster intact, easily running away from Team Silver. Silver still secured a first round BYE, but when they finally play, their last “good” win will have been on February 15th against Gold. Since then, they’ve lost twice and played an exhibition against Team Yellow. Will they be ready? Purple is flying high again at the perfect time, but there are a lot question marks on availability for their squad during the playoffs. Say what you will about Steve, but he certainly keeps you guessing.
Game 3: - Team Gold
vs. Team Blue
-In a battle for 5th place, Gold looked better than they have in weeks and easily put Blue away. Most teams would rather play Pink than Purple right now, so I guess they got what they wanted? Blue has had an extremely up and down season, but still have the high-end talent it takes to make a playoff run. Can they put it together? No. Gold has a deep roster of talented hoopers, but they’ve lacked a certain intensity required to beat the big boy teams. Can they pull it out of themselves and surprise Purple in Round 1? No.
Game 4: - Team Orange
vs. Team Pink
-Orange showed up short-handed against Pink once again and thankfully Pink didn’t shit the bed and hand them another win. Pink didn’t play their best overall, but Chris Carli had a strong return to form and they’ll be looking to rally around him for the battles ahead. No mercy will be requested. None given.
