2022-2023: Week 10 Player Reports
Game 1: Team Pink vs.
Team Orange
-In a pretty enjoyable, free-flowing game, Orange stuck around but never really threatened. Pink has a steady, relentless attack that wears teams down over the course of the game. They score in a vast variety of ways. This will naturally lead to lulls in the game where things don’t seem to work, but there is always a counter they can go to when they need to. Their defense and rebounding also seem to become more effective as the game wares on. They seem to have the ability to outlast opponents until they fold. Orange is still stuck in neutral. Some teams just don’t have any magic when they need it. They’re still giving up a preposterous amount of points to everyone. That would be the true route towards some wins, but they just don’t seem to have it in them as a unit. The sum of the parts is negative for this squad. With 4 games remaining, they would need a ton to go their way in order to dream about a backdoor playoff birth.
Game 2: Team Yellow
vs. Team Black
-It’s almost a dare to say Steve has hit rock bottom. Every year he outdoes himself with a new standard of misery. He’s taken Black to new depths in Week 10, losing to a 5-man skeleton crew of Matt V, Pat Ashe, and a teenager. Basketball-wise, there’s nothing to discuss. They could have gone zone if they were too tired to play man to man. They could have simply cleared out a block and gotten almost anyone the ball against Yellow’s over-matched defenders. They could have just played harder. Instead, they tried almost nothing and accepted their fate like the dogs they are. Three cheers for a heroic effort from Team Yellow that felt less so because of the utter stench of failure that follows Team Black from week to week.
Game 3: - Team Blue
vs. Team White
-In the other upset of the night, Team White avenged their 35-point walloping to Team Blue just one month earlier. Team Blue has had everything go right since Konrad joined their squad. Heading into a key showdown with the undefeated Team Pink in Week 11, they sputtered out of the gates in this one and played from behind all game. It was yet another example of how important it is to start games well. We’ve seen Blue play from ahead and blow the doors off teams. They looked tighter and bit more erratic playing from behind. Obviously it’s easier said than done, but getting of to a good start is the best chance you can give your team. We’ll see how Blue responds when they take on the Pinkertons next week.
