2021-2022: Week 9 Player Reports

Game 1: Team Orange vs. Team Blue

-Continuing their up and down season, Team Orange came up with a crucial win against he first place Team Blue.  It was a bit more evidence that Team Orange has a high-end roster when they are all in attendance and allowed proper runway to gel as a unit.  But good teams on paper aren’t worth shit.  You have to play the games…all the games…and show that the plan was correct.  It feels early for Team Orange, but we’re now 7 games into the season, so there isn’t much time.  Last season’s champs used the first half of the schedule to firm up their collective playing style and dominated the rest of the way.  Orange won’t have that luxury; they need to establish and sustain a high level right now.  Team Blue was missing their key player for most of the first half and shouldn’t dwell too much on this one.  They play White and Red in the next two weeks.  If they can take care of business in both of those games, they’ll be well on their way to securing a playoff BYE.  That’s all that should matter to them at this point in the season.

Game 2: Team Purple vs. Team Red

-Perhaps looking like the most passive of the title contenders, Team Purple continues to win games.  Despite a pretty poor overall performance, they did just enough to take advantage of some brief hot shooting by their top dog and win this one by double-digits.  Team Red continues to fight hard every game and has the balance to give themselves to win every week.  They still seem very beatable, but had an admirable showing against the seemingly superior Team Purple.  Team Red will be tested in the coming weeks against Orange, Blue, and then White.  Their solid overall play has put them in a strong position where they could withstand some losses, but they should be careful not to get stuck in an extended losing streak.  Sometimes you can’t come back.

Game 3: - Team Yellow vs. Team Green

-In a toilet party between the two teams at the bottom of the standings, Team Green showed that they have officially turned their season around and Team Yellow took their throne stop the garbage heap.  Rob is looking much steadier since Rich Lamb joined the team and the rest of their squad seems to be finding complimentary roles they can play.  Team Yellow is in freefall with no end in sight.  Their next 2 games are against Black and Orange.  If they don’t at least split those games, their season is basically over.
