2021-2022: Week 7 Player Reports
Game 1: Team Blue vs.
Team White
-After jumping out to a 3-1 record to start the season, all is not well in Jerry’s quest for a 3rd consecutive championship. Justin has an injury that may linger for the rest of the season and their team has 0% chance of doing anything without him. Even with Justin, Team White has dangled over a delicate cliff of scoring just enough points to secure two 1-Point victories. It’s hard to see where the needed scoring will come from, but Jerry might as well start by holding himself accountable. He’s averaging a robust 3.6 ppg. Team Blue is similarly reliant on their star to score the bulk of their points, but their supporting cast is likely more balanced. Interesting matchups in Week 8 for Blue and White. Both will be tested.
Game 2: Team Purple
vs. Team Yellow
-In a strange game, Team Yellow held the advantage in this one for 78 of the 80 total minutes of gameplay. They played harder and continued to fight until the buzzer. Unfortunately, Team Purple’s depth won out in the end and they brought their current win streak to 4 in a row. The Nurples better bring a hell of a lot more urgency to their Week 8 showdown with Team Blue or Troy’s Boys might not have enough to pull off another comeback. Team Yellow will get a much needed BYE in Week 8. After that, they’ll play Green and Black in back-to-back weeks. If they drop both of those, you can bet your sweet little ass Team Yellow will be missing the playoffs.
Game 3: - Team Red
vs. Team Black
-Riding the wave of consistency, Team Red ran their record to 4-1 with a comfortable win over Team Black. It doesn’t always look great or sustainable, but Team Red continues to find ways to get the job done. Their offensive balance is key and makes them less vulnerable to an off night. Even if one of their stars suffers a slump, having alternative options will keep them within striking distance. Team Black seems to be sliding the other way and we’re starting to see some of the head-shaking finger-pointing that are classic hallmarks of a Steve Dudek team. Their team would seemingly benefit from a little more run-and-gun. They have capable players who get lost/demoralized in half-court grudge contests. It seems like they’re playing not to lose. They’re playing scared. Someone will have to step up and inspire this team to action or they’ll continue to slip in the wrong direction.
