2021-2022: Week 5 Player Reports
Game 1: Team Orange
vs. Team White
-In what will hopefully be the last of Team Orange’s stretch of only mustering 5 players, they missed a golden opportunity to pick off Team White and even their record at 2-2. All things considered, Mark and the Orange Crush would have felt great with that result after an unpredictable first month of the season. Instead, Mark turned in one of his all-time worst shooting performances and they lost by a single point. There are a lot of silver linings for Team Orange to take from this one: they continue to play hard and get contributions from the entire roster; Brett Risley looked great in his return; you would hope Mark couldn’t possibly shoot that poorly again. However, they stand at 1-3 and take on the 3-1 Team Black in Week 6. If Mark has to go into the BYE in Week 7 at 1-4, put him on suicide watch. Team White didn’t play well, but their roster doesn’t seem to mind the mucky, close games, which is a good thing, because even if they win a lot of games, they likely don’t have enough scoring to win them comfortably. Expect them to be in a lot of tight contests throughout the year.
Game 2: Team Yellow
vs. Team Blue
-After the initial luster of Kevin Aderman’s high scoring wore off a bit, Matt V’s Midgets 2.0 have cruised to a 1-3 record with not much hope for redemption. This team is playing, more or less, as they were expected to. They get the ball up the court and shoot quickly. But they look overmatched in “normal” half court sets, which is what the good teams force you to do. Team Blue continues to look like the steadiest team in the league and own the highest positive point differential so far. They’ll be on BYE in Week 6 and then face off against Team White for a fun one in Week 7. Yellow will be back in action against Team Red in Week 6. It’s going to be an important one for them, as Team Red should be a much better matchup.
Game 3: - Team Purple
vs. Team Green
-Despite all the high scoring and hot shooting we’ve seen from newcomers to the league, the most consistent force has been rookie Brad Foster, who has nonchalantly thrown in 20 points per game and utterly demolished every person who has attempted to stand in his way. Troy has assembled a solid squad and it’s hard to tell what their ceiling is. Team Green somehow looks worse every week. They may have some help on the way, but it’s hard to imagine one player rescuing this pathetic group. Rob probably doesn’t have the hero-ball skills to prop up this squad alone, but I’m not sure anyone would. Their next 2 games are against White and Orange. They should do everything they can to win one of these games if they have any prayers of making the playoffs.
