2021-2022: Week 3 Player Reports

Game 1: Team Yellow vs. Team Orange

-With Team Orange still waiting on the return of their injured first draft pick, mustering only 5 guys for this battle was a recipe for disaster. That being said, they battled well into the second half when they ran out of gas and Team Yellow’s youthful shooting spree put the game out of reach. Matt V looks crustier than ever, but can still grab you a couple threes a game. Orange drops to 1-2 heading into the BYE week, but they should be encouraged moving forward. Yellow might be more dangerous than we think, but we need to see them in a proper game first.

Game 2: Team Red vs. Team Blue

-Team Red also was saddled with 5 players, but based on who was there, it’s hard to say this game would have had a different outcome if the whole roster was available. It’s a careful balance: you want the subs there for when you need a break, but you don’t want the subs actually on the floor for too long because they often hurt the team. Team Blue looked steady throughout and won this one comfortably. Excited for a fun matchup in Week 4 between two 2-win teams: Black and Blue.

Game 3: - Team Purple vs. Team Black

-After a surprising 2-0 start, Team Black also only mustered 5 guys and tried to give up as many points as possible to the surging Team Purple. Troy’s team might not have the transition/shooting game that is so common with younger teams these days, but they look extremely stout in the half court, which potentially could translate better to the playoffs. Can you imagine battling against them in the playoffs, losing by a couple buckets, and they’re dropping the ball down to Brad “Australian for Brandner” Foster every play? Once again, Troy’s worst draft pick was himself, which is actually a compliment. Not that he’ll take it that way.
