2021-2022: Week 12 Player Reports
Game 1: Team Orange
vs. Team Yellow
-With 75% of the season done, Team Orange doesn’t look anything like we thought they would. The hot shooting, deep, athletic squad that should have excelled in every facet of the game looks slow, unsure, and anxious. They were put on their heels early in this one by some ridiculous shooting by Kevin Aderman, but took the lead in the second half and should have had the opportunity to secure a critical win. Instead, they let it slip away and find themselves in dead last, squarely out of the playoffs via tie breakers. It's true that they can turn it around and have a good schedule to do so, but it feels like some of the luster and potential of this team has worn off. We’ve seen glimpses, but nothing more. Matt V’s squad has pulled 2 straight wins out of their collective assholes and put themselves right on the playoff bubble. They still need a lot to go right in order to get in, but they took care of their part of the deal.
Game 2: Team Green
vs. Team Purple
-About a month ago, both of these teams started to look very different. Team Green gained an important offensive player, so their transformation makes sense. Team Purple decided they were just going to be a gigantic ball of blah every time they play. They don’t play poorly, but they rarely look organized with a cohesive team strategy. It’s led to losing 3 out of 4 and temporarily dropping them out of a first round BYE. For a team that seems vulnerable against everyone they play, that BYE is a must have. They need to hunker down and figure it out. Team Green continues to be steady and timely, picking up wins against vulnerable opponents. They aren’t safe yet, but their destiny is in their own hands. A win against Team Orange in Week 14 would give them a huge amount of leverage.
Game 3: - Team White
vs. Team Red
-Another Team that seems to have turned things around over the last few weeks is Team White, suddenly an offensive juggernaut after struggling to break 50 for 3 games straight. They earned this win against Team Red, who still looks a little uncertain after their roster shakeup. Red gets a much needed BYE in Week 13, before closing out their season against Black, White (again), and then Purple. They should be careful. Those are the exact teams chasing them for the top two seeds. There’s certainly two sides to that sword: if they win 2 out of 3, they almost certainly will grab a BYE. If they win only 1 or none, there are a ton of scenarios that will put them back in the middle of the pack. The last month will decide everything for everyone.
