2020-2021: Week 7 Player Reports

Game 1: Team Blue (Troy) vs. Team Green (Koll)

-In a game with wild swings, I still don’t think anyone saw this ending coming.  Team Blue looked like they were going to run away with this one before promptly giving up a 17-0 run.  Then, when Team Green seemed all but assured of victory, Team Blue staggered back into it only to receive a technical foul for calling a time out they did still have (based on video evidence), which seemed to lock up the game, but in a schizophrenic sequence they would tie it up, force overtime, and escape with a win.  Team Blue still has a negative point differential on the season, but have a 5-2 record and are tied for first place.    Team Green is settling into a spot where they likely will play Red or Yellow in the first round of the playoffs.  Not sure either of those are good matchups for them, but I wouldn’t count them out as an outside contender.

Game 2: Team White (Hahn) vs. Team Orange (Garmes)

-Team Garmes is last in offense and last in defense.  They have lost 4 in a row and are close to clinching last place.  At this juncture, it doesn’t look like they can figure anything out together, which is a shame, because they do have some nice individual pieces.  Team White looks a bit better every week.  Rob is finally remembering how to shoot, at times, and their horde of brutes is a nice supporting cast to surround Rob and Steigerwald as they take all the shots.  It’s hard to imagine Team White wouldn’t get one of the first-round BYEs in the playoffs, which is always a big fucking deal.

Game 3: - Team Yellow (Vitaliano) vs. Team Red (Dudek)

-Matt V bet it all on youth and speed in the draft.  He failed to remember that teenagers think a $100 player fee is an impossible amount of money and would rather quit the league than pay it.  But with Matt V traveling the world and some of the youngsters MIA, the short-handed Team Yellow just couldn’t sustain against the deep Team Red.  No one on Red played particularly well, other than a few of Steve’s shots finally going in, but their size and depth allowed them to simply outlast the Pat/Konrad show.  The current two-game losing streak for Yellow is proof that they’re not winning the title with just Pat and Konrad.  It’s not enough and some of their production is redundant.  Matt V will need to pony up or he’ll continue to slide down the standings.
