2019-2020: Week 3 Player Reports

Game 1: Team Gold (Kelly) vs. Team Green (Troy)

-It’s official, we have our early front-runner for top turkey: Team Green. They got to 3-0 on the season with an impressive defensive lockup of the young Team Gold, holding them to a pathetic 43 points. Team Orange is averaging almost double that many points, per game. Tricky Dick Shick and ROY Declan Kelly led the way with 18 a piece for Team Green, while Luke and Troy also played I think. Green coasts into the BYE in Week 4 feeling strong.

Game 2: Team Orange (Hahn) vs. Team Black (Matt V)

-Another wonderful coaching performance by Coach Hahn, electing to start the game in zone and give Matt V’s squad a quick 12-point lead. However, even short-handed, Team Orange outplayed Team Black for 95% of this game, completing the come-from-behind win and getting to 2-1 on the season. Matt V’s shot looks a bit better, canning 4 total three’s on the night, and Rob was efficient in the shots he took, but Team Black is still thin in the front-court. They’ll need Kyle Altenburg to show up and figure out a way to be useful or you can’t see them mattering much in the playoff picture, despite Rob’s efforts. Black drops to 1-1, but should have a better matchup in Week 4 against Matt Koll’s offensively challenged pickle ticklers.

Game 3: - Team White (Freddy) vs. Team Red (Steve)

-In the most compelling game of the night, Team White eeked out the win, snagging their first victory of the season. For as bad as Team White has looked, they should be 2-1, had they not thrown away their Week 1 game against Team Blue. The only team looking worse than Team White is surely Team Red. They’ve looked uninspired in both their games and the return of Steve to the actual court is an ill omen of things to come. However, it’s probably not as bad as it seems (with them being the only winless team thus far). They lost in Week 1 to Team Green, who is likely the most talented team in the whole league, and still had a chance to win against Team White if a ridiculous no-call goes their way in the last moments of the game. Important matchup in Week 4 against Team Gold; one of these teams will move to 3 losses, which will be a significant handicap to the start the year. Which team wants the loss more?
