2019-2020: Week 14 Player Reports
Game 1: Team Orange (Hahn)
vs. Team Black (Matt V)
-Meanwhile, over 4 months later, Team Orange is still dominant and easily handled Team Black to close out the regular season and secure the first overall seed in the playoffs. It’s as if we picked up right where we left off, except that we haven’t and things will be very different and wildly unpredictable heading into our first playoffs in the Bernadette Bunker. In year’s past, the playoffs were always the great equalizer in that rosters were almost always at full strength. Certain teams would post poor regular season records, but were still recognized as a threat for the playoffs based on expected full attendance. Today, working through an unprecedented time in our lives, no one really knows who will show up to play in the playoffs. There are certain players choosing not to play; there are certain players who cannot play due to other commitments; there are players who are dealing with injuries and other various obstacles. It’s truly wild and difficult to predict anything moving forward. Team Orange will likely be down at least a couple players for the playoffs. Team Black may have more players than they did in the regular season as they putzed towards a 3-9 record. Team Black shouldn’t even be in the playoffs. They’ve had an unthinkable string of events break their way for them to be in this spot with an outside shot at the title. But at least the waiting is over. Soon, we’ll have results that we can bicker about until the end of time.
Game 2: Team Green (Troy)
vs. Team Red (Steve)
-With Team White unable to assemble a team, they automatically forfeit their final regular season game and their spot in the playoffs. Team Gold also was forced to forfeit their final game, but will compete in the playoffs. That left Team Red and Team Green to more or less play a scrimmage in Week 14. Chuck and Troy almost snagged 40 points a piece with children littered all over the floor. Both teams received W’s, as their scheduled opponents both forfeit. Team Red should have a winnable game against Team Blue in Week 1 of the playoffs. I expect that game to be tight throughout. Team Green will play the winner of Black vs. Gold in what could also be a close one. Good luck to everyone the rest of the way. Should be interesting, if nothing else.
