2019-2020: Week 12 Player Reports

Game 1: Team Black (Matt V) vs. Team Red (Steve)

-After bouncing out to a 2-1 start on the season, Team Black looked…okay. It might be a bit of revisionist history to say that they were ever a contender, even with Rob. However, there was certainly not much to hope for without him. Since Rob’s injury, Black has sputtered to a 1-7 record and most of those games weren’t close. Despite some valiant contributions from Matt V (18 points), Kyle Altenburg (20 Points), and a career night for Rob Walus (29 points), they still lost by 17 to Team Red and gave up a staggering 95 points, which was a season high for any team. This win was critical for Team Red and gives them a huge advantage for playoff scenarios moving forward.

Game 2: Team Blue (Matt Koll) vs. Team Orange (Jerry)

-As expected, Team Orange got revenge on their Week 5 meltdown against Team Blue and skated to an easy win. Team Orange spread the wealth around in this one, with 6 players scoring 7 or more points. Mickey Maloney was the bright spot, scoring 19, and showing how teams can be punished for overloading defensive attention on Mark. Team Blue has lost 3 straight. Even though their playoff birth is secure, they don’t look like the feisty dark horses they did a few weeks ago.

Game 3: - Team Green (Troy) vs. Team White (Freddy)

-While this game was probably closer than it should have been, Team White battled before petering out down the stretch. With the right guys on the floor, Team White can still hang with almost anyone, at least on the offensive end. Their problem is clearly defense. They don’t match up well with anyone, especially teams with speed. Huge game for Team White against Team Gold in Week 13. Team Green doesn’t have much to play for and is basically locked in to the #2 seed.
