2018-2019: Week 11 Player Reports

Game 1: Team Matt V (Dark Blue) vs. Team Garmes (Orange)

-It’s become clear that Matt V’s biggest issue is a lack of size.  That’s why girl’s will never take him seriously in bed.  Also, his team is small and gets murdered on the boards every week.  While McGinty and Statham can both get to the hole on offense, neither of them shows much interest in defensive rebounding.  Who does that leave the responsibility to?  Steve?  Falco??  Matt V?!?!?!?!?  Team Orange is an aggressive team on the glass and it was the difference in this one.  Earning extra possession means you can get away with a lower shooting percentage and give your team more chances to find a rhythm while simultaneously taking the other team out of theirs.  Matt V is safely into the playoffs this year based on the shrinking of the league and the putridity of Team Green, but holy shit they don’t deserve it.

Game 2: Team Vito (Teal) vs. Team Brennan (Red)

-Without Steigerwald, this game was basically a waste of time for Team Red, who gathered their second loss to Team Teal on the season.  Jerry is showing signs of life, which is the silver lining here.  If he can give this team 10-15 points a game, Steigerwald should only need to score about 40 to have any realistic shot of winning a playoff game.  For Team Teal, despite some early shakes and an embarrassing loss to Team Green, which may have helped them avoid the first ever winless season, they have put themselves in position to vie for the second playoff BYE.  They have a huge opportunity in Week 12 to gain the upper-hand on Team Beave; let’s see if they can pull it off.

Game 3: - Team Beave (Light Blue) vs. Team Jimmy Konrath (Green)

-Troy won Most Improved Player in 2016 and again in 2018.  It’s one of the hardest awards to win in consecutive years because perpetual growth is impossible to sustain.  But I’ll be damned if he isn’t the clear choice for Most Improved once again.  Sure, his team blows again, and his career has been plagued by losing records, but he’s averaging over 21 points per game on the year, a career high.  His first 4 seasons in the league, he never averaged over 11 per game.  The progress he’s made is incredible.  51 a game wouldn’t be enough for his stinker squad, but credit where credit is due.  Team Light Blue takes care of business to setup a showdown with Team Teal in Week 12.
