2018-2019: Week 10 Player Reports
Game 1: Team Jimmy
Konrath (Green) vs. Team Kenny Konrath (Blue)
-Team Green has perfected the art of looking steady in the first half before waving a shit-stained white flag for the entire second half. Playing without perhaps their most reliable scorer in Dave Troy, Green held comfortable leads several times in this game before throwing it away during a 5-minute turd tantrum that lead to a 15-point win for Team Blue. After slipping to 2-4, Team Blue has marched back to 4-4 in consecutive lopsided wins. They’re in perfect position for an early playoff exit.
Game 2: Team Beave (Light
Blue) vs. Team Matt V (Dark Blue)
-It’s hard to analyze individual games and not lose sight of the bigger picture. If you were to watch only this game, you might come away thinking Matt V had another strong, contending team, not the pile of piss that we’ve seen throughout the season. So what was different in Week 10? Pat Statham. He lit up the scorebook to the tune of 40+ points, almost single-handedly securing this much needed victory for Team Dark Blue. If he can get back to his hot shooting ways, this team can be dangerous in winner-take-all playoff matches. After threatening to make Team Green really earn their chance to miss the playoffs, Team Matt V moves ahead by a full 2 games, essentially securing their spot. From here on out, it’s all about seeds.
Game 3: - Team Vito (Teal)
vs. Team Garmes (Orange)
-Team Orange’s undefeated run was one of the more underrated storylines from the season. No one talked about their team much at all as they ripped off 7 straight victories to start the season. Perhaps this is because the justified spotlight will always be directed by our collective hatred for Matt V, but their accomplishment was impressive, if also a bit perplexing. Were Greg and O’Malley really playing that well together? Was Garmes really shooting lights out? Is this team any good or are the other teams just that bad? Team Teal has been just as confusing, without the perfect record. They lost a couple games they had no business losing and tried to surrender huge leads in a couple others. So it may have been a natural that they would be the team to topple the Garmes Gang, but it won’t amount to much. Team Teal stays in the race for the second playoff BYE, while Team Orange would have to shit the bed horribly to lose the spot they’ve secured. After this loss, it ensures that 9 full seasons have passed since the last undefeated season was accomplished. How many years until it happens again?
