2017-2018: Week 9 Player Reports
Game 1: Team Brennan
(Green) vs. Team Garmes (Red)
-Thank God. Team Green was finally able to pull out a close one, rallying to force an overtime that led to their 2nd victory of the year. Team Green, despite the utter misery they’ve caused to their leading scorer, still has players who can play. They could have beaten Team Blue in Week 5 and they SHOULD have beaten Team Yellow in Week 8. If they were on the right side of those games, you’d be looking at a 4-2 team that still has gone most of the season without a 2nd Round pick. Kevin Harrigan continues to torch the league, but his supporting cast is uneven at best.
Game 2: Team Bo
(Orange) vs. Team Vito (Blue)
-Not much to say about Team Orange. They’ll keep us in suspense all season as they quest for immortality as the first team to go winless. Team Vito skates to an easy one without Rob.
Game 3: - Team Spadoni (Grey) vs. Team Light Blue (Tierney)
-Team Spadoni looked better after dropping three straight to follow up their 3-0 start to the season. This team REALLY needs to play as a unit. They have no players that are a threat to score in a one-on-one situation. They all need help, small edges that put them in a good position. Because they have one of the most balanced starting units in HatchetBall, this shouldn’t be a problem. But egos and expectations based on long ago abilities can make things difficult. But, if everyone swallows their pride and focuses on playing together, they still are a solid team that can do damage in the playoffs. Team Light Blue has been up and down all season, but they play hard every week. Troy continues to impress. He’s averaging almost 16 points per game, which I’d wager is tops in the league for 3rd Round down. Maybe even 2nd Round down.
