2017-2018: Week 4 Player Reports
Game 1: Team Konrath (Dark Blue) vs. Team Brennan (Green)
-For posterity, this game was a reschedule for the original Week 4, which was payed AFTER Week 16. It turned out to be a do-or-die game for both squads and Team Green chose to die, just like it had all year long. After a full season of collapsing down the stretch in winnable games, Team Green collapsed down the stretch in a winnable game. In the end, it wasn’t really a lack of talent that led to its downfall, though it’s extremely difficult to fill out a roster with one of the top couple picks and damn near impossible when the original unworthy 2nd Round pick jumps ship one week into the season. But excuses aside, this team had more than enough depth to get into the fucking playoffs. Clearly they were not built for the close games that would follow and likely would have exited in the first round, but for a team with a top draft pick to miss the playoffs, there were some systemic problems that were either overlooked or ignored all season long. Maybe this team just didn’t like playing together. More likely, their timing was poor. It’s important for multiple players to play well at the same time for a team to be successful; this team was wildly inconsistent from minute to minute and completely unreliable from week to week. Needing to get one measly win against a poor team that was made even poorer by roster depletion, with two chances to get the win, should have been a very easy task. Instead, Team Green was sent packing by a pretty average effort from Dark Blue. Make no mistake, Dark Blue will get absolutely smoked by Team Red, but at least they got there.
Game 2: Team Tierney
(Light Blue) vs. Team Matt V (Yellow)
-This game did matter a bit for Light Blue, who was likely trying to avoid a big mismatch with the run-and-gun Team Red, so securing this win was important for them. The game was mostly boring, other than Troy continuing his hot scoring streak and Pat Ashe tossing in his annual bucket. On to the playoffs for both teams.
Game 3: - Team Garmes (Red) vs. Team Bo (Orange)
-Goodnight, sweet prince. May this stinky Bo team never surface again to sully the good name of our league.
