2017-2018: Week 14 Player Reports
Game 1: Team Konrath (Dark Blue) vs. Team Tierney (Light Blue)
-In a game with huge potential playoff implications, Team Dark Blue took advantage of a 40-point outburst from HatchetBall superstar Mike Stiegerwald to steal this critical game. Team Light Blue has now dropped 3 of 4, leaving them tied with Team Green. Light Blue holds the tiebreaker over Team Green (head-to-head) and Team Dark Blue (point differential), which is good, but their final two games are against Team Yellow, who finally has something to play for after dropping 2 straight, which is bad. Team Dark Blue needed this game badly, which gives them some flexibility in their final three games (2 against Team Green; 1 against Team Orange). Assuming they get the gimme against Team Orange, Team Dark Blue may need to only win one game against Team Green to get to 5 total wins and step ahead of Team Light Blue. Obviously, there are other scenarios as well. If Team Light Blue wins just once against Team Yellow, which seems very possible after their shitty performances over the last couple weeks, Tierney’s boys step back into the driver seat. But if they lose both of those games, they will need some help from Team Dark Blue OR Team Green. Interestingly, if Team Dark Blue wins against Team Green in Week 16, Team Light Blue will need to root for them to beat Team Green against in the Week 4 replay. It’s about to get interesting.
Game 2: Team Brennan
(Green) vs. Team Bo (Orange)
-With no letdown from the big win in Week 13, Team Green held Team Orange to just 12 points in the first half and ran away with this one. Team Green should only need to beat Team Dark Blue once to lock in their playoff spot, as that would put them a win ahead of Light Blue. As mentioned above, if Team Light Blue steals one from Team Yellow, things get hairy quick. Tiebreakers will likely come into play, which aren’t in their favor at the moment (though they can control the tie breaker based on point differential, in the event they split with Dark Blue). Fun stuff.
Game 3: - Team Garmes (Red) vs. Team Matt V (Yellow)
-Continuing his hot streak, Kevin Harrigan single-handedly dismantled Matt V’s suddenly pathetic Team Yellow. Someone needs to wake the Stathams up. This is HatchetBall, gentlemen. Freddy will not save you.
