2017-2018: Week 13 Player Reports

Game 1: Team Garmes (Red) vs. Team Tierney (Light Blue)

-In one of the highest scoring games we’ve seen in quite some time, both of these teams came out firing and hitting long shots.  Troy continued his hot outside shooting, hitting 6 deep bombs and tallying 24 points.  His running mate, the lesser Harrigan, also shot well, but their combined efforts couldn’t stop the Kevin Harrigan freight train.  Near the end, Team Light Blue ran out of gas and Team Red escaped with their third straight win.

Game 2: Team Spadoni (Grey) vs. Team Matt V (Yellow)

-It was only a matter of time before Team Yellow collapsed.  They’ve started every game slow, building big deficits that they would scramble to erase in the 2nd half.  Not this time.  Team Grey stayed solid and, even though their offense dried up substantially in the second half, they coasted to an easy win.  No undefeated season for Matt V and his gang of turd lickers.  This game didn’t matter much for playoff implications, but still good to see Matt V losing.

Game 3: - Team Brennan (Green) vs. Team Vito (Blue)

-Missing a couple starters, Team Blue showed just how thin their roster is in this one.  Team Green had its core group there and playing well together.  Rob and Mark, as usual, cancelled each other out in this one, putting up similar stat lines.  Team Green took advantage of the other mismatches on the floor to get good looks consistently.  It’s clear by now that Team Green doesn’t have high-percentage shot makers, meaning that they need easy looks to improve their chances.  It’s rare to see one of their players creating something other than a blooper in desperate situations; playmaking just isn’t the strength of their roster.  Instead, they have a solid group of guys who are skilled enough to bend defenses with passing and screening.  More of both makes a big difference for this squad.  Even with this loss, Team Blue is in control of the 2 Seed, but their title hopes look shaky.  With Rob’s retirement looming, they should show some urgency, or he’ll be tip-toeing to Nashville with his head hung low.
