2017-2018: Week 11 Player Reports
Game 1: Team Matt V (Yellow)
vs. Team Matt V (Orange)
-For a game that figured to be lopsided, this game was as expected, in the wrong direction. Team Orange controlled the scoreboard for most of this contest. But as is always the case with Team Orange, there were some questionable decisions made down the stretch which led to an instantaneous, monstrous run for Team Yellow that allowed them to sneak back in and grab the win to remain undefeated. At this point, it doesn’t really mean anything if they lose the rest of the way, but certainly everyone wants Matt V to lose, so there’s always that to root for. Big matchup in Week 12 against the 7-1 Team Crapczyk. The cameras will be rolling. X-Factor: Stove?
Game 2: Team Garmes (Red) vs. Team Konrath (Dark
Blue)
-Team Konrath continues to run out of gas in the second half. Against speed demon Kevin Harrigan, they once again looked good for half a game before they packed it in and succumbed to the finite laws of time and space. Steigerwald has picked up his production after a shaky start to the season, scoring 36 & 38 points, respectively, over the last two losses. Things are very clear for Team Dark Blue, at this point. If they beat Team Green twice, they will likely make the playoffs (but even that isn’t a guarantee). If they lose both, they are likely out. If they split those games, which might be the most likely outcome based on how these two teams have played this season, they’ll need to steal a win against either Team Spadoni in Week 12 or against the surprisingly stout Team Tierney in Week 14. There are some other scenarios (like Green losing to Orange in their matchup), but it would behoove Team Konrath to get their shit together or Luke and Steigs will be starting the offseason early.
Game 3: - Team Brennan
(Green) vs. Team Light Blue (Tierney)
-The only reason Team Konrath is still in the playoff hunt is due to the consistent ability of Team Green to blow close, winnable games. In what figured to be a close game from the start, Team Green made a series of bonehead moves, gifting the game to the steady Team Tierney. Surprisingly, Team Light Blue might share the ball more than any team in the league, which is fucking shocking considering they have chuckers like Brian Harrigan and Troy on their team. To their credit, both of them have been more selective with their shots this season and it’s led to more efficient scoring for both. Troy is currently averaging 16 points per game, which would be a new career high FOR THE 5TH YEAR IN A ROW. What kind of ridiculous improvement plan is that? By the time he’s 50, he’ll be scoring 40 points per game and sucking dick under the bleachers at a rate that we can’t even comprehend.
