2017-2018: Week 10 Player Reports
Game 1: Team Matt V (Yellow)
vs. Team Konrath (Dark Blue)
-While this one had a very predictable result, with Steigerwald out for Dark Blue, Team Yellow continues to look vulnerable. It’s possible Matt V’s squad has another gear and we’re not seeing the best version of their team, but they continue to look clunky on offense. Bite-Size Statham doesn’t look as aggressive as he did last year and they don’t have any other playmakers to speak of. They don’t make dumb mistakes, which is their biggest advantage, and they have enough shooting to get by. But most teams will play man to man in the playoffs and we’ll see how they react at that point. Luke played well in this one, with 19 points, 13 boards, and 4 blocks, but Dark Blue hasn’t progressed much despite their awful record. Feeding Luke more often is not a recipe for success.
Game 2: Team Brennan
(Green) vs. Team Spadoni (Grey)
-Team Green was caught even more shorthanded than usual, leading to an easy win for Team Grey. Spadoni’s group looks different every week. This may be a strength, showing how deep their front line is, but it also may be a weakness, showing their lack of a cohesive strategy on either end of the floor. At times they look more like 5 good players playing separately at the same time. Other times they move the ball as a unit and get any shot they want. After a BYE in Week 11 and a BYE in Week 12 against Team Dark Blue, Team Grey will get another chance against Matt V’s squad. By then, we should get a better idea of what this team will look like in the playoffs.
Game 3: - Team Vito (Blue)
vs. Team Light Blue (Tierney)
-In a weird game with absolutely no big men, Rob gathered a lazy 28 rebounds to set the all-time mark. He also added 35 points and led his squad to an easy victory. Team Tierney looks a bit more sluggish as other teams hit their mid-season forms. Team Green will be looking for revenge in Week 11, so they better be ready. Team Vito will get a re-match against Team Yellow in Week 12 after a BYE in Week 11.
