9:00 - Team Vito
(Orange) vs. Team Bo (Yellow)
-Orange ran away with this one in the first half. With their nice mix of speed and shooting, they are a team capable of building big leads. It’s important to keep them close in the early going. Team Bo is the opposite of that: slow and shallow. They need a close, half-court game to stay in the mix. When they made their move in the second half, the point differential was too much to overcome and they faded late. Team Yellow has two critical matchups in the next two weeks against Team Green and Team Light Blue. If they drop both of those, they will leave themselves squarely on the playoff bubble.
10:00 - Team Garmes (Blue) vs. Team Guinane
(Light Blue)
-In an ugly one Team Blue got back on track and defeated Team Luke-A-Like for the second time this season. Team Garmes is unlike Team Orange also, in that they don’t have the tools or balanced scoring to jump out to big leads. Their success is all about strategic defense, team rebounding, and quality offensive possessions. The combined skill level of their roster more than makes up for their lack of athleticism, but they need forty minutes of focus every game to get victories. If you had to pick between talent or experience, you should probably go with experience; that’s why Team Blue will end up in the winner’s circle at the close of the season.
11:00 - Team Tierney
(Dark Blue) vs. Team Brennan (Red)
-Dark Blue squandered a two-game win streak and an incredible performance by the first overall draft pick by not showing up with a full team and losing to a pretty average effort from Team Red. While Team Red did even their record at 4-4, this game seemed to make it clear that they can’t possibly stack up with the top-tier teams simply due to their poor defense. Facing a severely limited 5-man squad that included Dunner and Drish-A-Like, they let one person score 50+ points. That type of defensive indifference never leads to a title.
