Week Nine Player Reports
Mark Koll: And just like that, Mark is on
a three-game win streak. Each week, his
team seems to play better, which isn't to say they've played their best. In Week Nine, Mark struggled mightily in the
first half, missing as many free throws in the span of a few minutes as he has
for the entire first half of the season.
And while Mark couldn't buy a bucket, Light Blue threw in 3-pointer
after 3-pointer. But it's a sign of
great progress with Team Orange that they didn't panic. They continued to space the floor, feed Mark
the ball in good spots, and give enough defense and rebounding to stay in the
game. When Mark finally got hot in the
second half, a ten-point deficit turned into a ten-point advantage in a matter
of minutes. Mark dropped in 31 points
and matched the All-Time HatchetBall record for
free-throws attempted in a regular season game (13). With Matt Koll and
Jimmy Konrath elevating their games, this team is
shaping up to be a contender. They
aren't there yet, but things are headed in the right direction.

Matt Koll: While the stats weren't there
this week, Matt continues to be a dominant force on both ends of the
floor. After a slow start, he has
grabbed double-digit rebounds in four consecutive games. And while he couldn't get many shots to fall
on offense, he continues to take open jumpers and attack the basket when he has
the angle. His mental handicap will
probably stop him from converting most wide-open layups,
but the sheer threat of him trying to score helps immensely to space the floor
and bend the defense.
What's Next: Matt will need to be sharp against Team Grey in Week Ten, as they have multiple guys who can attack and score.

Mike Steigerwald: The unifying factor
amongst all great scorers is that they score in a variety of ways. By diversifying your offensive chances, you
give yourself more opportunities to get points.
Mike proved this in Week Nine, dropping a week-high 31 points with no
free-throws. No usually known for
scoring in the paint, Mike displayed a barrage of interior moves and short
jumpers to end the night with eleven 2-point field goals. It was only Team Green, but still pretty
impressive.
What's Next: Team
Blue will square off against the emerging Team Red in Week Ten, in what should
be a tight game.

Mark Vitaliano: Mark played likely his
best all-around game in Week Nine, gathering 14 points, 9 rebounds, and a
season-high 7 assists. He continues his
up and down ways. I'm still not
convinced Team Blue really scares any one, but they sit at 4-3 and have a few
winnable games in a row coming up.
What's Next: Mark
V will invest all his money in a beard-gel startup company.

Eric Mittermann: Obviously Eric drew the
short straw in terms of the team he was drafted on in his Rookie season. I'm pretty sure Team Green is already
mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.
But Eric played his best ball of the season in Week Nine, scoring 8
points and grabbing 7 rebounds. He
should have his first double-digit scoring night before the season is out. And hopefully he can hitch himself to a
better team next season.
What's Next: After
a BYE week, Team Green will be back at it against Team Yellow in Week
Eleven. *FART
