Week Fourteen Player Reports

Mark Koll: Idle in Week Fourteen.

What's Next: Team Grey will be without their fearless leader in Week Fifteen as they take on Team Orange.  Good luck?

Matt Koll: Dark Blue was able to tough out a win over Team Brown in Week Fourteen.  Matt played well and his offense is on the uptick.  Assuming they win their final game of the season against the lowly Team Green, Dark Blue will finish with a 7-5 record which isn't bad considering how badly their offense sputtered at the beginning of the season.  Depending how things wrap up, they're probably looking at a 3 or 4 seed.  That means they'll be matched up with either Grey or Baby Blue.  To be honest, their opponent doesn't matter that much.  If Dark Blue can execute on offense and hit some shots, they have a chance against any team in HatchetBall.

What's Next: Dark Blue wraps up their regular season against Team Green in Week Fifteen.

Matt Vitaliano: Matt V might be the only player in sports history to improve his game after getting injured (save for the singular sensation known as Henry Rowengartner).  Matt V poured in a career best 8 three-pointers in Week Fourteen on his way to, you guessed it, 24 points.  You have to figure Matt V will be in trouble once teams start actually guarding his ancient ass, but you can't be mad at him for taking advantage of other teams' stupidity.

What's Next: Team Yellow gets a BYE in Week Fifteen before closing out their season against Team Red in Week Sixteen.

Luke A: It's interesting to note that Luke now has two triple-doubles to his name this season...and isn't averaging double digits in ANY statistical category.  He's barely in the double digits in free throw percentage.  But regardless of that anomaly, Luke played well again in Week Fourteen, leading Team Yellow to a win that will put them in position for a first round BYE in the playoffs.

What's Next: Luke will feast on spitted lamb in Week Fifteen before going back to work in a key matchup against Team Red in Week Sixteen, when the coveted first-round BYE may be at stake.

Jerry Hahn: Idle in Week Fourteen.

What's Next: The good news keeps pouring in for Team Orange.  They have the longest win streak in HatchetBall and are a virtual lock for the top overall seed.  Now they get to play Team Grey minus their best player in Week Fifteen.  Success breeds luck breeds success.

Dave Troy:  Troy plodded through another typical game for Team Green.  They roared out of the gates hitting shot after shot, only to slowly give up the lead and then quit altogether.  Troy will look back on 2013-2014 as a lost season.

What's Next: Green will close out their miserable season against Dark Blue in Week Fifteen.

Mike Steigerwald: Team Red holds the only chance of taking the first-round BYE from Team Yellow.  To do that, they'll need to beat Team Baby Blue in Week Fifteen and then they'll need to demolish Team Yellow in Week Sixteen.  I think they're capable of both, but they'll need their entire team to contribute and, as always, they'll need their shots to fall.  The funny thing is that, if they don't get the 2nd seed, they'll get the 3rd seed.  In that case, they'll likely play...Baby Blue in the first round and...Yellow in the second round.  These next couple weeks might be telling to how far Red can really go.

What's Next: Red rides the stretch with hopes of splattering Blue and Yellow.
