Week
Eleven Player Reports
Mark - Inspired by one of the dirtiest games in HatchetBall history, Mark led the way for another Brown victory, piling up 37 points, 9 rebounds, and 1 block in the process. Brown did improve to 7-1 (and a perfect 7-0 with Mark in the lineup) but perhaps the bigger story in Week Eleven was Mark going 11-11 from the free throw line. Mark obviously set the record for most free throws attempted in a single game without a miss, but in addition, he pushed his season totals into near legendary status. Mark is 37 for 39 on the season, for an unbelievable 94.8% on the year. He is shattering his own record for free throw percentage in a season (83.7%) by a mile. Mark actually has less missed free throws on the year (2) than Rob has "whiney bitch outbursts" (5). Very impressive.
Jerry - Another solid performance from Jerry in Week Eleven, despite the onslaught of vicious competitors who wanted to cut his neck(hair). Jerry put up 14 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 assists. He gained ground in his season-long bet with Luke for highest scoring average, but more importantly he helped close out the feisty Team Dark Green and keep Team Brown on top. Heading into a big Week Twelve showdown with Team Orange, Jerry seems primed to be the deciding factor.
Luke - Having been
stranded
with a team of Blue Cap rejects, Luke finally put up his first clunker
game of
the season. He managed just 7 points and
9 rebounds in the loss, though he somehow went 5-5 from the free throw
line,
which you might call the "Matt V sized" (or fun-sized) version of
Mark's Week Eleven accomplishment. It
will be interesting to see how Luke's team fares in their remaining
schedule. Though they are currently 4-4,
it seems like it wouldn't be all that surprising if they lost out and
ended up 4-8. Which
would certainly leave
them right on the playoff bubble.
In all probability, they will need at least one more win. Was this game a sign of things to come, in
terms of Luke's improvement slipping back the other way?
Or will Luke get it together and lead his
merry band of Green Boogers to that last win they need?
Stay tuned...
